A close friend told me about a meeting a few years back in the United Kingdom where Lloyd was not invited at first, but begged to be part of the meeting.

You have some of the details right. It was Steven Hassan’s “Undue Influence” symposium. And you know what you know because it was Marc Latham at the bottom of the stairs.

It was circa 2014 and he was a relatively new activist. His daughter was very young. It was a few months after she was born and this was either during or shortly after his stint as AAWA president. I think after. He wasn’t earning much at the time and he still had one foot in the translation business and the other foot was starting to get wet with new donations.

Anyway, Marc met him, Dijana and the newborn in the lobby. After Marc warmly greeted them all and was being playful with his daughter, Lloyd got distracted and was more worried about making it to the conference and setting himself up as a speaker. So he left Marc, Dijana and the baby in the pram down in the lobby and darted up the stairs. This place did not have a lift from the lobby to the floor where the conference was. So when Marc realised that Lloyd wasn’t coming back, together with Dijana they carried the pram with the baby in it up the stairs.

Upstairs, Hassan was sitting at a conference table with chairs behind it. He agreed to let Lloyd sit behind it with him along with others but Lloyd insisted on using a podium like he did as a Kingdom Hall elder. He didn’t get what he wished for as this was Hassan’s event, so he sat there behind the table with a sour look on his face. When he started speaking no one could get him to shut up and he practically hijacked it. It was effectively the start of his activism career.

It was also the last time he saw Marc on friendly terms. In 2015 the COC copyright theft scandal happened and Marc found himself on the outs with Lloyd. In one of his trademark FB rants, after disowning Marc as a friend and falsely claiming Marc was an evangelical fundamentalist out to discredit him due to his atheism, Lloyd clutched more than a few pearls saying he remembered Marc giving him a great bear hug the last time they met.

So tragic. Now back to my drink and we’re watching Cobra Kai in a few minutes. Salut!

I think he thought of all people I would be cool with him and back him up. When I didn't and knew his game it was the ultimate betrayal.

He treats Jill Adams with the same sanctimonious bullshit only that he disguises it carefully so that he doesn’t look to be bullying a woman. I agree that he was counting on you being an ally, and especially Jill, who had as recently as December 2021 helped him with his cancelled UK meetup. Jill even lost the deposit on the location.

Him calling you a pornographer is rich especially since he’s currently accusing many exJWs of judgementalism and of being sexual prudes. Also as a longtime pornography consumer, I don’t get why of all people HE is taking issue with YOU. Yes you are a critic of his, but him preaching about your past rings about as hollow as a heavy smoker blaming all their health problems on the Phillip Morris Tobacco Company. Had you taken his side he’d be defending your past profession with vigour.

When he was posting here he was huge on the bandwagon fallacy and would frequently name drop other posters who agreed with him, especially Paul Grundy. The problem he has run into now and why he’s a bit fucked is there is no longer a bandwagon of any prominence to appeal to. All his remaining defenders make up an odd hodgepodge of poor man’s Cedarites and newbies who are falling for his “Kim’s lies” fallacy. All the real activists have left him and I can’t really think of anyone who has made a YT video defending him besides that Jay the Comedian dingbat. He literally has no one left to collaborate with and this aborted documentary fiasco would have never happened if he had the support team he had as recently as December.

Given his penchant for appealing to the bandwagon fallacy and the content of his recent posts, it’s apparent that he views the possibility of luring his wife back as having intrinsic value to his image rehabilitation. I don’t claim any inside knowledge of the current situation and for all I know she’s back with him already, but a few clues do exist. She evidently has no qualms about being used as a prop on his Twitter posts & he still publicly professes his love for her. Also hidden in that rant he released almost 2 weeks ago was the implication she was still working for him. There’s probably an equal mix of financial reasoning and emotional manipulation & I have my doubts we have seen the end of them as a couple.

I think it means that they wouldn't cooperate with him, and with some of his requests. Lloyd being Lloyd, he probably got into a few arguments with them and, unable to just drop it and move on, decided to take a shot at them for not showing him the deference he expects.

Groups like Extinction Rebellion aren't exactly hurting for press coverage due to the nature of their protests. I think Evans thought he could bring Tibor, tell them he was a "filmmaker" and they'd be glad he was on-board. These are people who put themselves in danger by using their bodies to block irate commuters and attach themselves to prominent landmarks. They want participants, not some guy with a camera who would be the first to yell "Press" the minute the police came to haul them away.

He might have already had a few suggestions in mind for them as he had tweeted earlier about having some sort of script ready for the event. So was it going to be pro or con? They had no way of knowing and probably told him if he and Tibor are not there to participate, then they wouldn't be welcome.

I think that’s an oversimplification. If it occurred in a vacuum and this was a one-off for an otherwise pleasant activist with integrity I believe this would have all gone away by now. But…

He used Patreon funds for this. He even admitted before all this happened that he was almost entirely supported by these donations, so no matter how he may spin it, the 4 or 5 books he sells a month is not covering a 2 month trip to Thailand.
he has crowdfunded hundreds of thousands of dollars from exiting cult members over the last decade to fund his lifestyle and created his own cult.
he has weaponised people to go after those he does not like and this continues today
he has taken his family on holidays round the world all paid for by xjws and has disguised it as “activism”.
he attacks CSA survivors for relating their concerns about his activities in Thailand
he has consistently lied and gaslit people who didn’t agree with him
he has sabotaged other activists he didn’t like
he pirated COC and then blamed it on everyone else and Paul Grundy
he has consistently treated his wife like trash and betrayed her dating back to 2009 and continues to blame it on “sexual repression”
he humiliated her on his livestream saying she didn’t sexually satisfy him
he continues to attack and troll people who have called him out.
he has sent out 12 letters demanding money from other exJWs for telling the truth about him
he is currently “criminally” suing 7 exJWs in a Croatian court
he has threatened to come after Kim Silvio for the next 40 years, even flying to Australia to legally harass her

But other than that, he’s a great guy who should be given another chance.

I get what he is doing with the pivot to climate/environmental advocacy. This just demonstrates how keeping the heat on him for 7+ months has actually paid dividends in forcing him to consider other activism paths as no other activist will work with him nor can he just dial up an event and expect 50-100 people to turn up. It was clear he had expected the Andrew Gold interview to be the "final word" on the matter, which actually turned out to damage him even more. He's done this a lot in the past as with his comprehensive thread on Reddit about the COC copyright issue he posted. Whenever someone mentioned COC, he'd post a link to that thread without comment. He wanted the Gold interview to be the same.

"I cheated on my wife? Yes, and I apologised. What I didn't do was go to Thailand for sex workers! I was dating one! Here's the link to former BBC journalist Andrew Gold's interview with me..."

As for the pivot into this new field, he's going to have to effectively start over to gain a new audience as his patrons who supported him over JW activism will gravitate toward the YT creators still doing it. This new audience is a world away from JW activism. He won't be able to get away with the cult techniques he has effectively employed over former JWs who were and are conditioned to accept it. He's going to have to drop his catchphrases mentioning Tibor all the time, stop wearing those silly t-shirts and really be prepared to dig deep into data unless he's going to just rip off other content out there and recycle it into his "documentary". He also has a lot more competition in this field; competition such as veteran activists, YouTubers with huge followings, university professors, media personalities and the like.

Climate and environmental advocacy has been well covered on YT and social media by far more qualified people that him. His crybaby attitude when someone tries to correct him on a point is going to be the first thing people notice about him.

Finally, a quick search of the more successful YouTubers out there reveals one particular constant - the creators tend to be younger and more presentable to the camera. If you look like Lloyd and you want to talk about the climate, you'd better have a PHD after your name.

And he wants to juggle this new path with JW activism, the Zagreb dating scene and/or a reconciliation with the wife, and chasing Kim and others round the globe to sue them? He's headed for another meltdown when reality stops by to say hello.

I think it's pretty clear that he wants to drag it out because he must finally have realized that he set himself up for a very public (and very embarrassing) failure. I don't think he can face the ridicule to come if the criminal suit goes nowhere.

That's precisely what is happening. Is the lawsuit over? No, and Kim didn't say it was. If her information is correct, an important threshold was not met - the "threshold" being that the court declined to serve the "defendants". We don't know the reason yet, but it's not hard to imagine they don't see they have any jurisdiction for this, or perhaps they have already flagged this as a frivolous lawsuit. My guess is they have chosen one of those two options and Lloyd has gone rogue and had filed something himself as a motion for the court to reconsider its decision by presenting new "evidence" of defamation.

So he's telling everyone that the lawsuit is still active but is hiding the information that the court is not inclined to hear this. It's in his interest to keep dragging this out and keep making motions the court needs to consider. At some point they will dismiss the case.

This is actually an Extinction Rebellion event, oddly held at a Croatian coastal resort town instead of in Zagreb where policy is actually formulated. Extinction Rebellion is a leftist environmental advocacy group which is known for blocking traffic and causing chaos in large cities. They are likely planning something in Zagreb. This is a way for Evans to virtue signal about the environment and also move off of JW topics. You'll see "Environmental Activist" soon in his Twitter bio. Extinction Rebellion is not going to care about him using sex workers in Thailand, they just need the body.

And the sight of Lloyd Evans using his body to block traffic in Zagreb is going to be worth 1000 memes.

i was under the impression that it was going to be a short war, that russia’s military would indeed subdue ukraine’s forces quickly but that is not happening.

seems that russia’s military power is much less than it’s reputed to be.

Of course not, don’t be silly. As this is a discussion forum, everyone is entitled to their own opinions. And Riley has exercised his, including telling former Jehovah’s Witnesses that they think like Watchtower. I kindly suggested that his energies might be better focused on joining the battle himself. As President Zelenskiy has stated on more than one occasion, no contribution to the Ukrainian defence is too small.

I am also entitled to my opinion that there is such a thing as war profiteers who would have easily found another one had Vladimir Vladimirovitch Putin not rolled his tanks into Ukraine.

So we have an old style “Mexican stand-off”. Sure, piling in more weaponry into Ukraine will certainly give Mr Putin something to ponder and roll back the frontlines. He can also completely wipe out the Ukrainian electricity grid & shell innocent civilians in response. When does it end?

Shall troops be landed on Taiwan to fend off another “Hitler”? How about rolling tanks across the DMZ in Korea because a wannabe Hitler has launched a few missles over Japan?

Ukraine says it wants it all back which is certainly reasonable but also impractical at the same time. Even the folks who are inclined to overthrow Putin are not handling Crimea back.

Whilst these dueling armies fight it out & war profiteers count their winnings, who suffers? The people do. It’s easy to play war games from thousands of kms away but if I were in harm’s way I’d desire a diplomatic solution.

But I’m just a poster on JWN, what do I know?
